Norman Lansing's "Star Sunrise" is a breathtaking work of pottery, densely adorned with intricate hand-etched designs. The surface is painted in a rich fusion of blue, brown, black, and green, with etching revealing the white pottery beneath. A structured geometric pattern encircles the base, supporting an array of mesmerizing motifs. Among them, a kachina-like figure, petroglyph men reaching toward what appears to be the sun’s rays, a masked figure peering from within the design, and yet another kachina-inspired form emerge.
